#electricuke #fuc #yacht-rock at least that's what the guitar effect was called lol
I swear I’m not gonna make every song political this year 🤣 Content warning: our heinous reality
Edited to add: I think many of us are processing the fact that we've been made to live in shame about sex by the same people who are doing sex crimes on a massive scale. I hope that we recover!

Lyrics
Government spy Why so shy? You’re watching me work And eat and sleep and jerk it You never say “hi” “Or hey, how’s it going?” I’d just like to know Where all of this is going
After 9/11 you said it’s okay to spy If you’re not a terrorist you have nothing to hide Meanwhile I’m 10 And panicked cuz I googled naked ladies again
I hope you didn’t see it
Corporate spy Why so shy? I’m viewing you remotely In your ugly modern home-y Take ice baths and meth Cuz you don’t feel alive Unless someone else’s grisly death Is currently transpiring
After 9/11 you said it’s okay to spy And I guess in retrospect I had nothing to hide Cuz I was just 10 And another 10 year old was on your yacht again
I hope that they recovered
Outsourcing your shame on a million little kids It’s gonna take us decades just to process what you did
Oh, overlord spy Why’d you try to hide it? Now we know your secrets, I think you kinda like it We’re up in the Cloud You’ve got my data I’ve got your kompromat So everything is out there
After 9/11 you said it’s okay to spy If you’re not a terrorist you have nothing to hide Now we’re all revenge porn in the great big sky And the internet’s forever so we’ll never die
Government spy Corporate spy Were you all the same spy? All of this time?
I hope that we recover

You have such a cheeky, sarcastic smile in your voice, and like, how??! So boring and somehow Puckish the way you poke, poke, poke on all the buttons. Your lyrics are so good.
Oof. Yeah, this! The dissonance between the peppy electric uke and upbeat melody with the darkness of the lyrics is just perfect for the subject matter.
Biting lyrics, and all too true. Soon we'll all be on the blockchain so they can our every move and charge us just to breathe. That'll be fun. Not fun like this song though. I love how bouncy and happy feeling it is. But that also fits the context that we're all supposed to be happy about them gathering our data and using it to give us a "better user experience."
This is lyrical genius. Great vocal delivery. And I also hope that we recover.
