Take It Over

Liner Notes

This song has been hanging around as a bass riff for quite a while, it has eventually emerged from the gestation chamber in this form. The bass is still pretty prominent but slower than previously.

Words sound nice and work together but I have no idea what it's about.

This is what Chat GPT thinks:

"The lyrics describe a deep, consuming relationship where the narrator feels emotionally dependent on their partner — confused by them at times, but driven by the love they give. Walking away might be easier, yet the narrator actively chooses the struggle and intensity because the connection gives life meaning. The repeated idea of “taking over” suggests the love is overpowering and inescapable, with both people pulling each other deeper into an all-absorbing bond rather than letting go."

So there you have it

#alternative rock, #emotional rock, #intense, ##anthemic chorus, guitar-driven, #passionate, #modern rock

Lyrics

[Verse 1] Seems you never want to walk away Take my heart and want to stay I can never really understand you Maybe it's worth it for the love you give But you're the reason that I want to live This world is nothing without you

[Chorus] It's just too easy to walk away I need a challenge to make my day And I'm sure I'll get that all from you You're so spirit in my heart It's been that way from the start I'm afraid there's no escape for you

[Post-Chorus] One of us is taking over (take it over) One of us is taking through Yes you do One of us is taking over (take it over) One of us is taking through Yes you do

[Instrumental]

[Chorus] It's just too easy to walk away I need a challenge to make my day And I'm sure I'll get that all from you You're so spirit in my heart It's been that way from the start I'm afraid there's no escape for you

[Post-Chorus] One of us is taking over (take it over) One of us is taking through Yes you do One of us is taking over (take it over) One of us is taking through Yes you do One of us is taking over (take it over) One of us is taking through Yes you do One of us is taking over (take it over) One of us is taking through Yes you do (Yes you do) (Yes you do) (Yes you do) (Yes you do)

Well this is some quality production right here. Very, very nice! Solid my friend! It cracks me up that a machine has an opinion about what a human written song was about.

This is really fabulous! Love the bass riff! The chorus really delivers and those awesome sax solo sections set the mood perfectly! That is a cool structure with the repetition in the prechorus that really drives the sentiment home. This is spectacular! Yes, I’ll say it again, this is a fabulous song!

Wow, that sax delivers! I've never tried a breath controller, are they hard to master technique on? I looked at saxophone fingerings once (I played clarinet in grade school) and said 'no f-ing way'! This has that great 80s easy-adult-listening overall sound, with a great backbeat and accompaniment to the sax. The final calmed-down chorus and outro part have an almost-modern pop-type sound too.

love the mid-80s AOR format vibe on this. and that sax kills.

Where's that sax coming from? It's beyond PERFECT! I have done the occasional sax solo using Band In A Box on past songs. Pretty realistic, but nothing like what I'm hearing here. Wonderful, wonderful song! Awesome vocal!! ❤️
