Liner Notes

#skirmish This was a one hour skirmish where you have an hour to respond to a prompt, write a song and then record it-- the prompt here was the lack of privacy in social media sites-- I took a bit of a sideways related angle to it, the lyric kind of wrote itself quick. Got interrupted with something and then did a quick iPhone recording, added some reverb echo and compression and here ya are...

Lyrics

I'm going on a social media site to talk about the evils of social media yeah i know but where else are ya gonna reach the people

im living in a very rich country, talking about the evils of a rich country yeah I know but where else are you gonna live?

I'm eating meat and dairy , talking about the evils of the factory farm system yeah I know but where else are you gonna have lunch?

Im talking about the good use of our resources and not buying what you don't need yeah i know but how good do I look in this new outfit and this leather jacket?

yeah I know but we all do what we can do its better to at least be aware incremental changes can still help too

if you're waiting for the perfect narrator you're gonna have to wait a long long time so let's all do what we can do I'll do the best version of me, you do the best version of you

Lyrics are smart as paint. Reminds me a bit of Randy Newman. Nicely performed too.

traditional Mike iphone plus reverb. a nice bit of light blues - yup sideways

Good bluesy feel to the song, Mike. I don't think I've ever played along to a song in F# before. You're testing me! (I passed!)

Definitely sideways, but sadly still very true. Good song, sung clearly!

Fun! When the guitar started I was expecting "Joe Joe was a man who thought he was a loner..." Nice! You have a few "cram" lines in there, but with they style I don't mind them.... too much. Good skirmish!

Pure fun and it cuts to the quick for us "progressives". Nice that you give us a get out clause though in the title.

Sadly it seems that the reactionaries don't believe in incremental change - they prefer totalitarian revolution and having dismantled the old safeguards offered by unions, there is no organised opposition to them. Even the Democrats seem tongue-tied and powerless to stop the rot. And any republicans wary of the direction it is going are scared shitless of losing their place on the gravy train and are keeping shtum. ☹

@ruby

Love a good 12 bar especially when it’s coupled with lyrics about how we talk the talk. Thanks for sharing
