We the People
NSFWLiner Notes
As I was writing lyrics to send to my partner in the #randomcollaborations challenge (hi, @robcrusade), I kept coming up with bits and pieces that were on topic, but just didn't fit the angle of that song. In the end, they all ended up going together in a very simple little protest song.
Lyrics
Verse 1 They want you to think that they are in control. They want to spin a narrative that's not gonna hold. They want you to believe that they are powerful and strong, But we say, "Fuck right off," and then we sing this song.
Chorus We the people have the power. We the people know you're scared of We the people, and we'll make sure that All the damage that you've done will be repaired.
Verse 2 They're playing for the cameras from Newsman and from Fox. They think a show of force is gonna produce awe and shocks. But what they have forgotten is that we have cameras, too, And instead of looking tough, they just look fascist through and through.
Chorus We the people have the power. We the people know you're scared of We the people, and we'll make sure that All the damage that you've done will be repaired.
Verse 3 So remember Alex Pretti, and remember Renee Good, And little Liam Ramos stolen from his neighborhood. Make sure to show the world exactly what these bigots do. Congress doesn't have the balls to end this, so it's up to me and you.
Chorus We the people have the power. We the people know you're scared of We the people, and we'll make sure that All the damage that you've done will be repaired.
Bridge We must all stand together. We must all stand as one. We can work in solidarity Til these fuckers are all gone.
Chorus We the people have the power. We the people know you're scared of We the people, and we'll make sure that All the damage that you've done will be repaired.

Love this one. We the people have the power. An important reminder. Love the stretched out melody on the chorus. Sing it!
Hell yes! As always, you’re killing it with the protest song genre. This one is particularly catchy and satisfying. Had me smiling on my walk into the office.
Howdy! I never thought I would see a protest song on a ukulele. But you, sir, are making it work hard. :)
Thanks!
Strong performance! The melody is easy to follow and singable, and the I like the way the notes stretch on the chorus.
Thanks!
I dig the energy here - that's some mighty strumming and singing! That's an anthemic singalong chorus, too. Preach, buddy!
Thanks!
very catchy chorus, good bridge, and great job getting the message across overall in a good flowing song!
Thanks!
love this a lot, very catchy! your voice and the ukulele fit the protest song vibes super well
This has great punk energy for something so stripped down—ukulele with that bite totally works and gives it a very Violent Femmes vibe. Simple, effective, and catchy in the best protest-song way.
Look out, Bob Dylan! Here comes Dr Dave with the anthem to carry us through the resistance movement! This is so singalongable and will be running through my head for ages.
Way to reclaim the first words of the constitution ( have they actually read it?). Great hopeful tune, it's nice to be reminded that all's not totally hopeless and there is a reason this much effort is still being put into controlling the narrative. Thanks for this one! Great sing-a-long too.
