Liner Notes

An ambient string-fuzz instrumental exploring some of my favourite apps. This is a pure iOS production. The base layer is from Pianoscaper, a generative piano and orchestral app. I added French Horn and Cello from ThumbJam. With additional synth layers from AudioKit Synth One J6, which is a full featured, 100% free (no ads) from Matthew Fetcher. For those who are interested, my process is as follows. I record all the loops with live improvisation into LoopyPro into separate colour groups. I then add various fx to the mixer channels (colour groups). Once I’m happy with the sounds, I live mix and record the final output. I then edit the final file with a bit of mastering and output a wave file for later and an mp3 for upload.

Really nice, beautiful textures and soundscape, very calming and and lush, always evolving and I like those little subtle tingles of piano that pop up now and again. Great mix with all those elements as well, never sounds muddy. Impressive that's it's all made on iOS!

TBH, pianoscaper does the heavy lifting for the generative piano sounds. It’s kind of an opaque app. You can select a happy (major) or sad (minor) key. Record loops on the right side and I’ve never been a 100% sure what the left side triggers.

I need to dork with loopy pro. I own it I just gravitate towards koala when I’m phone producing and haven’t sat down with loopy pro to learn it. You’re inspiring me.

Another excellent work. You’re killing it this month. Like in the first degree (that’s the best one, if I had to pick…your heart has to REALLY be in it to pre-meditate)

It’s beautiful with those lil bits of dissonance adding tension here and there. Aces

Thanks again. Glad you liked it. The thing about LoopyPro is that I only use a fraction of its capabilities. It has a strong community with tons of great tutorials on YouTube and people share templates so all you need to do is add one and you’re ready to go.

The latest paid update added midi loops. Which is exactly what it sounds. You can record midi loops and play them with any app you like or send them out to external gear. Really opens up the possibilities. The Dev is coming with a macOS version soon as well.
