Skirmish: Ghost Story (@roblyon5150)Liner Notes
The thing is when you write a song in less than 20 minutes and decide to record the very first take, you forget the structure and play some chords in the wrong order and miss half the notes...
This is why typically do 'full production' demos, because I can fix that stuff! But not this time. This is a skirmish, so you get what you get.
Recorded one take on a Takamine acoustic guitar into a Shure Beta 58a mic, then crushed a bit with some J37 tape.
Lyrics
i turned him into a ghost, at point-blank, i couldn't miss, oh nooooo, oh nooooo do i have any regrets? would you? do i have any regrets? would you? nooooo nooooo i turned myself into what matters most a martyr for dead beliefs oh, nooooo

Love the alt-rock vibes and the lyrics are genuinely unsettling. A violent contrast to the music.
Well played. Great choice of take on the prompt. I do like the delivery, what one could see as flaws will always be another listeners treasures. This has your soul in it both in the vocals and instrument
Ok…let’s take this one at a time:
The thing is when you write a song in less than 20 minutes and decide to record the very first take, you forget the structure (change the structure making it progressive which by definition is more intellectual) and play some chords in the wrong order (that makes it more jazz cuz there’s just more progressions/feeling/colors on the palette) and miss half the notes...(edit on the fly and keep the notes that matter in the moment)
Very cool performance I enjoyed thoroughly
this is cool! i never hear this kind of song from you. i like that it’s not all fixed up. it’s got character. it kind of reminds me of neutral milk hotel or something like that. some cool quirky 90s alternative thing. i dig it
I used to tell my students that, when it comes to mistakes, half the audience wasn't paying attention, most of the rest didn't know what you were trying to do anyway so just keep moving. Of course, if there are guitar players in the crowd, it doesn't matter if you make mistakes or not, they'll say you did.
These skirmishes get my blood pumping. The perfectionist in me has a hard time sitting out.lol Great job with the time crunch.I would love to hear the full production version.
I though tit was cool. sounds pretty cool for a quick take. Thanks for participating.
Mate, going off-piste happens to me even when I do make full production demos. For a first take, this is amazing. And always remember what the blessed St. Brian says: "Honour thy error as a hidden intention."
