Liner Notes

I wrote Sirène at a workshop in NYC, encouraged by fellow artists to try writing in my second language which is French! The title translates to "Mermaid," and the song is a brief reverie from the perspective of an undersea enchantress. I will add an English translation of the lyrics once I have written one to my satisfaction - it's kind of like writing a whole new poem.

*Disclaimer to French speakers: There are most definitely some grammar/conjugation errors that I let slide to preserve the rhyme. C'est la vie!

Lyrics

Sirène / The Mermaid

I love how your voice lifts on "Sirène, sirène sur les rochers" -- this song is strong and empowered, lovely but not soft -- like, I imagine, mermaids might be. "Je suis ton amant, pas ton amour" is also a really nice distinction!

As others said, this has a lovely lilt, and I'm also enjoying the slightly old-timey sound of these particular chord and strumming patterns. Though I can't understand much of the French, I love how it supports your wide ranging melody.

I can't comment on the lyrics, but the tune is lovely and your singing and playing is very sweet. Nice job.
