Liner Notes

Since I spent so much time rolling dice today, I decided to use the "weekly" roll for a song of my own. Story cubes: A timer, child in a hooded cloak, a person on a stretcher, a market stand, and the action was shouting. I doubled the vocal and used my soprano ukulele. #storycube #FUC #ukulele

Lyrics

I was at the farmer’s market waiting to pay A girl showed up in a hooded cloak and I looked her way She was stealing berries when she thought no one could see This moment could go two ways, and it was up to me

I could shout, “stop you thief” and shame her publicly Or I could go and handle things a bit more quietly I paused and asked myself where were her mom and dad Then I wondered if that cloak was all that she had

I was at the farmer’s market waiting to pay The little girl looked up at me and quickly looked away My time on earth is limited the timers ticking fast Before I’m on a stretcher and breathing my last

I could shout “stop you thief” but that didn’t sit well She wasn’t a common crook or destined for hell She was just a little girl with hunger on her face Needing a helping hand and a little grace

I was at the farmer’s market waiting to pay I paused to help a little life that was sent my way I aligned her with services I hope treat her good Then paid for the berries of that little riding hood

Interesting story and lovely delivery. Light-hearted, warm and beautiful singing and playing. Thank you for your challenge and for your lovely and instantly likable song.

You're a good story teller and you display empathy, too. Nicely done.

The title made me stop by to hear your song. My wife is a potter and sells her wares at a weekly farmers' market, so I had a predisposition to hear what you had to say.
