Where Is The Past Kept?

Liner Notes

Kicked things off with a wee chirpy/shoegazey instrumental knocked up in about 2 hours. Ticked off one of my aims for FAWM by using my new Screen Violence pedal. The title is a quote from my son from when he was a toddler asking me random questions as he fell asleep.

I love the combination of lo-fi grittiness and distortion and the upbeat melody. Reminds me a little of Moscow by Orange Juice. The little pitch bends are perfectly placed. Great sound. Screen Violence is the only pedal I still lust for after having developed an unhealthy addiction a few years ago and sold most of them. Jealous.

I loved the sound of this so much that I sought out some good headphones--and then I loved it more. Whoa...it's over so soon? Back for another listen.

Nice work! In hearts and minds

A bunch of (admittedly French) writers used the in between state of falling asleep as inspiration, so your son is in fine company. That bent line accenting each bar in the verse (?) is really cool. Crazy how there’s a lot going on with a lot of Big Sound but it doesn’t feel cluttered. It feels gazy and awesome.

Nice!

Love how this crashes right in with a great big chord. Guitars sound great! I managed to get my new pedal in on song #1 too although I stuck it on a synth so perhaps "pedal + guitar" will be my challenge for the next one. Anyway great start, nice n' crunchy.

Cheers buddy!

Those beefy chords are a treat. Is the pedal on the lead line? I like it a lot, it's a bit ambiguous sounding - could be a guitar, could be a synth. Love the title! I also like that by adding just one 'a', it could be a question of which cupboard the fusilli is in

Ha, I'll consider the pasta remix if I run out of ideas. The pedal was on both guitars but with different settings; one with crunchy reverb and one with a warbley chorus type effect. I'm sure there are plenty more sounds to get out of it but they were 2 that fit

Love the guitars on this, and that’s such a cool song title too!

Thank you!

This is really cool. Digging the intro bit a lot. Nice drive too it too. Reminded a little bit of Jupiter from Cave in those string bends.

Ha! Wasn't expecting a Cave In link, but I'm a big fan so thank you!

Toddlers and their sudden existential wisdom eh? This is beautiful! The wavery tone on that first climbing riff is glorious, and the way the two melodys play it feels like asking a question - and the answering melody is a happy delight. Nice!

Thank you kindly!
