Thank you for the prompt. It actually made me think of how often I see that my music was heard partly, sometimes halfway. The worse statistics are on Instagram when sometimes it looks unbelievable. For example, video watched by 129 people with the average time 9 seconds. Oh, and I saw 5 seconds too. I honestly don't have a clue what can be heard in 9 seconds unless people just scroll through multiple videos without any interest to really hear any. My compositions usually last for between 2 and 3 minutes. Is this too long, I wonder. Maybe in our time people are too busy for any minute to stop and to listen? Anyway, here is my lyric/poem. Your songs are brilliant and I always listen to the whole song. I feel fake if I comment without understanding and I avoid doing so. I believe people miss out when they just scroll. Perhaps their priorities are different from mine. Personally I prefer real listeners, and people who ate just scrolling, staying away from my music. Sometimes less is more. Fewer vies, fewer likes when each person listened to entire song is better than 1000 or millions who heard a fragment.

Oh, and I saw 5 seconds too" Yeah that's what happens on youtube too, and usually I believe it is because people don't really care, the algorithm gave them something they didn't really ask for and they went on with their lives. Anyway let me actually read the song and yeah I think that reiterates it, it's a very modern way to think about your influence on others. I think it reflects that we fundamentally think differently about the internet, it's like being a street performer and having people walk by, but now every person that walks by is treated as if they matter. Now you'll see the spare change you received and instead of being happy with what you get you're sad about what you could have received.
You mean, being happy with 5 seconds of listening?
Not seeing 5 seconds of listening as actual listening, not seeing someone who saw what you made for 5 seconds as someone who saw anything at all I'd say.
Sorry to disagree. I only value true listens. 1 true listener is worth thousands of people who heard 5 seconds and went off.
That's what I'm saying though, I agree with that approach.

I get my best views on 20-second videos or so - certainly no more than a minute. My shorts always get more views than 3-minute videos. More likes. It could just be YouTube serving up my shorts more than my videos - once YT gets the numbers for something, it sees it as more successful for the channel and shows it to more viewers. So I take more stock in likes than views but maybe that's fake, too. Who knows?
