I started experimenting with a one-drop reggae groove in EZ drummer and started to piece this track together. My thoughts went to this past July's point blank police shooting of Corey Ruiz (RIP.) He was already subdued, yet one cop decided to put three rounds into the back of his head as he lay on the ground. I had the misfortune of seeing the video. Whether or not he was exactly a model citizen is immaterial...this is not the way. There has to be a better way. This tune is for my community in the greater Dane County area, and for all victims of unjustifiable violence.

Now the community is asking why These situations seem to often be recurring Despite ostensible oversight The normalization of violence is disturbing

Will there ever be a consequence? Where is culpability, where is accountability? It’s not the time to be on the fence Work together to gain our true security
