The Dollar We Owe

Skirmish: Workers Unite (@tjeff)

Liner Notes

Lyrics

Join me in claiming Our common destiny And the karma that came first It’s up to you and me

You can call it a union Call it a collective Or just say that we share A common objective

It might take All that we know And all that we’ve heard To pay the dollar we owe To the world

They say responsibilities Follow from powers And we might not have many But we’ll take what is hours

The power to focus And the power to move We have something to do We have something to prove

It might take All that we know And all that we’ve heard To pay the dollar we owe To the world

History has led us To this moment Once we face the truth The future is wide open

[repeat verse 1 and chorus]

This is a really good song about community and solidarity and why it's important. You have a really nice laid-back groove for it too.

I like that title so much - reminded me of the company towns where the workers were beholden to the bosses. I couldn't get the video to play, not sure if that's on my end or what. So much good stuff in your lyric - nice skirmishing.

I really like your more subtle and insightful take on the prompt and your sense of accountability and responsibility. You express the lyric sentiment so well with the music.
