Skirmish: RUNAWAY (@corinnecurcio)

Liner Notes

Lyrics

This is not the place for me to be Nobody wants me here I went from crying over spilled milk To crying in my beer

But beer is not a place of safety It’s a world that’s big and wide There must be a place I can go Where I don’t have to hide

So you’re a runaway Anyone can tell Run run run runaway But you ran away too well

It’s that thing of looking over your shoulder Will anybody track me down But I left without a trace And I’ll never be found

Some things are better forgotten And that describes me too The fighting has ended It’s just what will you do

When you’re a runaway Anyone can tell Run run run runaway But you ran away too well

Runaway Anyone can tell Run run run runaway But you ran away too well

So you’re a runaway Anyone can tell Run run run runaway But you ran away too well

Runaway Anyone can tell Run run run runaway But you ran away too well

These are really great lyrics and they are supported well by an interesting chord progression. Like @marilisa, the milk/beer line really grabbed me, setting out nicely the longevity of the protagonist's sadness.

“You ran away too well” is such a great line to anchor the song. I really like the milk/beer juxtaposition too. And the tune is really catchy too! Nice work!

Great story telling. I especially enjoy the transition to the chorus. My favorite line is "beer is not a place of safety." True words indeed.
