Wash It Off

Lyrics
Wash It Off This subject at times is so taboo, It’s what we are and what we do. Thank you, Adam, thank you, Eve, For the garden and the future we did receive The Garden of Eden, a paradise, A land of milk and honey, oh, so nice. Full of beauty, perfect and pure, Till the serpent came knocking at the door.
Sin, sin, wash it off, Wash it off, sin! Wash it off, wash it clean, Make me holy once again. Set me apart, make me new, Sanctified in all I do. Sin, sin, wash it off, Wash it off, sin!
The serpent took a chance, And rolled the dice, Whispered words that sounded nice. One little bite, one fatal choice, And paradise lost its voice. From that day on, we all would know The weight of sin and where it goes. But there’s a way to make things right, From the darkness back to light.
Sin, sin, wash it off, Wash it off, sin! Wash it off, wash it clean, Make me holy once again. Set me apart, make me new, Sanctified in all I do. Sin, sin, wash it off, Wash it off, sin!
Consecrated, set apart, Sanctified within my heart. Justified, my wrongs forgiven, Washed and clean and bound for Heaven!
Sometimes the subject makes us shy, We whisper low and wonder why. But it’s the story of every man, From Eden’s garden to where we stand. We fall down, but we can rise, There’s mercy waiting in disguise. So bring your burden, bring your sin, There’s a door that lets you in.
Sin, sin, wash it off, Wash it off, sin! Wash it off, wash it clean, Make me holy once again. Set me apart, make me new, Sanctified in all I do. Justified and washed within, Thank You, Lord, for cleansing sin!
Wash it off! Wash it clean! Wash away that old sin! Wash it off! Wash it clean! Make me holy once again!

Thanks. If you think you can do something with this I would be honored. I know the lyrics are rough.
Ok. I'm happy to see someone openly talking about faith and things of faith. That's important.
But: WHY are you writing it? What's your goal? WHO is the song for? Audience?
Some lines feel like you're singing to yourself, some to God, some to people who know God, some to people who don't.
Am I being a jerk? Maybe. It wouldn't be the first time today. I think your heart is in the right place, and I applaud you for writing songs about things that matter.
And now I feel like I have to write a song that matters, after seven meaningless songs. I hope it turns out... meaningless is so much easier.
Yes there is a lot there. I just write stuff down with the hope someone can or will be able to pull something out of it. I did not claim it as a finished product ready for radio play.
Preach! This one inspired me to bang out some boisterous gospel chords on the piano (and reminded me that in eighth grade I was the pianist for our youth choir). Sharp rhyming on the Adam and Eve verses, and the chorus is made for a singalong.
