Looking down

Liner Notes
#folk #singersongwriter It's true that you should look up when in Amsterdam, otherwise you'll miss the lovely architecture. But you should also look down. We have brass plaques on the ground outside buildings where people were taken off to concentration camps during the Second World War. It's very moving and very sobering at the same time.
Lyrics
It’s always good to look up, Sometimes you gotta look down To read the plaques set in the ground They’re hardly ever talked about
In the darkness of the past These people used to live here Until the knock came at the door, And then they were made to disappear
Like something from a horror show We should never forget Words and speeches have consequences Instead of neglect, it’s time to reset
So much imbalance in the world Some have more than they can spend When will this madness ever end When will we learn to love ourselves again
It’s always good to look up, Sometimes you gotta look down To read the plaques set in the ground
