Bookend
Skirmish: Bookending, Framing or En... (@dudachris)Liner Notes
This skirmish/prompt RULED! I inadvertently shoehorned in the title of my (second) song from this year's FAWM, but more importantly, realized I could use the music to bookend the lyrics, which, there was no way I was coming up with more words than this in a hour.
I'd love to raise the key a bit, get a better guitar/vocal balance, blah blah blah, but I have two collaborations to finish, etc., etc. Thanks @dudachris for the excellent skirmish!!

Which end Is the bookend It’s hard to tell from here Was it the three nights At the old man bar with the Strohs on tap And the steel guitar
Which end Is the bookend The details disappear Was it the three nights At the end of May Or the hot and sunny August day
When you told me, that all summer long I’d had it all completely wrong
Which end Is the bookend A broken souvenir Of three nights In the distance now All that the circumstances Could allow

Book It!!! This is an Ultra Fine piece with Excellent Fingerpicking and smooth Vocal too. Lyric is Concise and Cool, and I also like the which end is the bookend lines.
well this is a banger and instantly on my FAWM26 favourites list! Gotta love the rough yet skilled fingerpicking and the catchy vocal melody. A very packed song, a lot of stuff in less than two minutes but nothing is missing, like in a Chekhov short story. I love skirmishing because it throws gems like this on my way!
Totally enjoyable sound on the resonator guitar. Cool how you put in the time/weather details of the dates that bookend the summer referred to.
Excellent song! Superb vocals and picking, and the concept of not knowing exactly where one adventure ends and the next one begins. Life as a series of overlapping bookends?
Outstanding Skirmish tune! "Which end is the bookend?" is a great line. "Was it the three nights At the old man bar with the Strohs on tapAnd the steel guitar", is also excellent. I love the feel and vibe of this jaunt as well. Brimming with style! (ps... your awesome guitar work inspires me)
Love these lyrics. Every word carefully placed, each line precisely composed. This is the kind of writing I wish I could do. And I can assure you, the limitation is not time. An impressive perfect little skirmish.
