Living with Lies

Well this one took a lot more work than a skirmish. I used Band in a Box for the instrumentals.
The song had many idea transformations over time. The title and idea was at first the sweet lies we tell our beloved. Then I morphed over to the lies that MAGA tells itself that become baked in to their reality. Religion, too,-- for many those ideas can't be shaken with science or common sense. (Hence the Noah's Ark museum.) I had to throw in the line "the good lord and me can still disagree"--of course that doesn't mean I can disagree.
Musically too: 3/4, 4/4, TexMex, ballad, finally bluegrass--I tried them all to see what fit.
I hope you can forgive my flawed vocal, but appreciate that the BIAB instruments sound pretty good. Anyway, hope you like it.

LIVING WITH LIES © Mark Greenberg February 25, 2026
In my world friends all agree with me Or could it be I just agree with them? And we follow the ways of our leader With the faith that we placed in him Some say I’m living with lies Some say I’m living with lies They say I’m so used to living with lies I couldn’t bear to live with something true
It is said we will live forever In the next world. For me that is truth I read it myself in a good book And that’s all that’s needed for proof Some say I’m living with lies Some say I’m living with lies They say that I’m so used to living with lies I couldn’t bear to live with something true
The good lord says love thy neighbor The lord says all must get along But the good lord and me can still disagree Cause sometimes he gets things all wrong
Well you don’t know my mind And you can’t read my heart If I gave up all of my lies Then my whole world would sure fall apart
Maybe it’s my choice to be living with lies You might say I’m living with lies But I know I’d rather be living with lies Than to question what I swear to be true Believe me, I’m not lying to you

Cool modulations (key changes) you included! I think you should repeat the chorus after the bridge, but before the outro stanzas.
I'm wondering if you lied about using BIAB and have really learned how to play banjo? I really like the last two stanzas. Great lyrics
