Skirmish: Year in Review (@atornberg)Liner Notes
This is for the Skirmish, "Year in Review". I wanted to get it finished closer to the time of the Skirmish, but stuff kept coming up. I'm dedicating this to my brother, RIP. #folk #fuc #acoustic #guywithukulele #acousticonetake #skirmish
Lyrics
In your last year, the sky turned gray We embraced knowing that you could not stay The world grew lonely like never before Your knock never heard again at my door
Time kept moving like it always does , even when we begged it not to run
Your name was carved deep in stone where Mom and Dad have gone We stood together, in love and grace And we held you close in place
Time kept moving like it always does , even when we begged it not to run
I found a poem that spoke your fight Your stubborn hope, your borrowed light I read it to the gathered few And it somehow became at once the truth
Time kept moving like it always does , even when we begged it not to run
Together we shared stories and smiles Your laughter echoed there for just a while Did we feel you there in the springtime rain? Some paused and just closed their eyes
Time kept moving like it always does , even when we begged it not to run
In your last year, the sky turned gray We embraced knowing that you could not stay
Since I’m familiar with the back story this song is maybe even more meaningful to me, but I think anyone can relate to the beautiful expression of love and loss and remembrance here.
