A friend and I have been experimenting with some plugins by SoundFontGuy recently, namely the GuyEngine and DelayS, which are supposed to emulate specific video game sounds. I came up with this little bass n' drum combo and then added guitar and threw in some lyrics. I've been wanting to get a little more inventive with vocal melodies, particularly with rhythms, so I embraced that original melody by stealing the verse rhythm wholesale from "Let's Put Our Hearts Together" by The Beach Boys. I also threw some lyrical references to Lorde's Melodrama while using some lines I had written in my phone as a starting point. This was fun to mess about with and I'll probably do even more.
