Flaggin'
by @andybalham
Liner Notes
Around the UK there has been a spate of people hanging the flag of St. George from lamp posts. I can only assume in the misguided belief that their way of life is under threat from an unseen foe and that the flags will somehow ward them off.
Lyrics
We’ve been told, by the press That they’re all Invading our country
Not seen ‘em, don’t need to To be scared Into taking action
[Chorus] We’re flaggin’, flaggin’ I hope your flaggin’ too We’re flaggin’,flaggin’ Red, white, no blue
Our duty, to protect us Is to hang St. George from every lamp post
We’re spraying, like tomcats That’s our way To mark out our territory
[Chorus]
But we don’t know, what we’re so proud of Just keep flaggin’, come what may Like garlic, to a vampire We hope it’ll keep ‘em all at bay
But like vampires, the threat was never real

yeah - it's weird times true enough and i think the "Not seen ‘em, don’t need to" section is the bit that resonates most - this fear of some unseen and intangible thing that is somehow responsible for their lives sucking. Good song
Boy sure is weird how the same types of idiots are fucking things up all over the place nowadays...great song though with so many good lines, 'spraying like tomcats' among them!
Ah, this is the kind of indie rock music I grew up on. Great vibe, great guitar, great drums. Good use of tambourine on the chorus. Strong analogy to tomcats marking territory. Like the sting in the tail!
Wonderful guitar playing and cool effects. Nicely stylized vocals also. I really like how you called out this behavior so cleverly in your song. Great production also!
I love some good political satire! Great mix here, the vocal delivery is awesome, and there’s some great lines here! I love the bit about marking territory like cats, and the vampire metaphor is really apt!
