Skirmish: No apologize no regrets (@acousticmaddie)Liner Notes

Once again, pushing the good-faith limits of the skirmish, but I thought this was worth having a complete set of lyrics for. I'd like to work more on the music, as this feels like both a chord progression and a melody I have reached for before, but...c'est la FAWM. Onwards!
Lyrics
At the Hartford Civic Center In 1986 I did not put “Tambourine Man” in the set It was great to play with Petty I felt good about the mix So I’m not sorry, and I have no regrets
I played “All Along The Watchtower” And “Tangled Up In Blue” In different tempos, and might have changed the key If you didn’t recognize them I don’t know what to tell you I’m not sorry, they felt right that way to me
If you didn’t like the backup gospel singers And you weren’t a fan of Slow Train Coming either You should know by now, you should understand how I’ve never had much use for true believers
If you came to hear “A Hard Rain” Or “Blowin’ in the Wind” Or Mike Campbell play the riff from “Refugee” Do I look like Keith and Jagger? Are you even listening? No, no, no, it ain’t me
If you still don’t like the way I treated Joanie, and think I threw away a beautiful career You can head for the door, well before the encore I’m the only one who really has to be here
At the Hartford Civic Center In 1986 I did not put “Tambourine Man” in the set It was great to play with Petty I felt good about the mix But I’m not sorry, and I have no regrets

Super-fun story with a great title, love your finger style bluesy style, especially the dynamic contrast - love some of those harder picked notes! The overall sounds is reminiscent of Stoney Larue. Well-recorded - pro mix. True story?
Oh, I'm so glad you asked :-). Yes, at a Dylan/Heartbreakers show in Hartford we heard some yell out "Tambourine Man" from close to the stage. Dylan leaned into the mike and drawled, "Naw, I'm not gonna play that one for ya. Soooo sorry!"
I've been saying "Sooooo sorry!" to my teenaged kids since they were toddlers and I had to inform them there was no more macoroni in the saucepan.
Funny and smart lyrics. I vibe along and had to save it for later to. The performance is fab. Perfect storytelling. Thank you for playing.
Great , clever lyrics. Some of them cracked me up. I think Dylan would like it. It is so him! I particularly like the Hard Rain verse As usual your vocals and playing are spot on!
Familiar, yes, but worthy. I love how you make "I've never had much use for true believers" true -- and "I’m the only one who really has to be here" is perfect -- especially as rhymed with career. (So many inside references, my favorite one being "oh no no no it ain't me"). Love it!
Oh, this is GREAT! I loved all of the song references so cleverly incorporated. You sure should have no regrets about this one. It's perfect to my ears!
I love the percussive way you play this. The rattle and pop of the strings make it sound like there's more than just a guitar accompanying your singing. The smokey sound of your voice tops this off nicely. Great song.
Marvelous storytelling folk, in the best sense. I only deduct points for not including an impression of Bob's singing. Too many great lines to count, song references and perfect details to make it real. I'm glad you took the time to flesh out this skirmish result, because, yeah, it's really good.
I saw him once in the early 90s and was thoroughly disappointed. He seemed like "the only one who really has to be here" then, too.
