I fukkin’ love Teitanblood. I think they're the perfect embodiment of black/death metal. Dark and oppressive both in production and composition. If you don't believe me, check out their album “Death”. It is suffocating. And long. Once it ties its hands around the listener's throat and draws them into the black hole, it doesn't let go before the horrifying 68 minutes are over. Like the promotional text upon its release stated, “The second Teitanblood album corrects the misconception about death metal being music.” The debut album “Seven Chalices” is really important to me as well, but “Death” is one of the most total records out there, and also one of my all-time favourites. Bare in mind, though, that it is definitely not for everyone!

So, why I babble endlessly about TTNBLD is because I've had the idea of writing a song in that style for some time now. Long, dark, frantic, menacing. Thus, to celebrate my fifth FAWM victory in a row, I decided to get it done. I had several riffs prepared for that idea months back already. Maybe two of those riffs stayed almost the same, but all the others I reworked or rewrote completely, and I think they're actually better now. The middle ambient part's melodies came out maybe a bit “nicer” than I would've hoped, but otherwise I'm quite happy with it!

And so, I claim my victory. This feels like the magnum opus of my FAWM year. Since I was quite comfortably ahead of the schedule, I decided to spend a little bit longer with this one. There were a few technical frustrations crafting this track, but all in all, I’m glad I made it! Got to try some new things production-wise as well.
