Got a very late start this FAWM. That's probably where this prompt came from. Maybe my brain thinks I need a good talking to.

If only I'd started yesterday I'd be finished by today. If only I'd thought ahead a bit I'd have options still in play. But given that I didn't I'll push on anyway. If only, if only I'd started yesterday.

If only I'd turned to the left I'd have done everything right. If only I'd been a Lark today Instead of an Owl all night, But then who would I even be, And would I still recognize me? If only, if only, if only.

Life's made up of 'if onlys', Choose your own adventure stories, Full of choices and crossroads And plans that go awry. Lego blocks of indecision, Of kindness and derision, Of days we just scrape bottom, Of days we touch the sky.

If only I could remember That every day is a cipher, A blank page to be written, A story to be told. If only I could proceed now, Not to follow, but to lead now, If only, if only, I can remember I can fly.
