The Trauma Olympics

Liner Notes

Recorded some #piano a few days ago, finally had a chance to edit the video. After the fact, I decided that it fit with the #oraclechallenge that I signed up for and wasn't sure I'd be able to actually do due to other commitments. My drawn card said that essentially there are no prizes for crying more than someone else, and that this isn't the trauma olympics. So that's where the title came from. My usual go-to with piano is reflective, somber, that kind of thing, so it seemed relevant.

I might expand on this song at some point in the future. I'm thinking vocals, minimum, and then maybe add some extra bits. But this is very much an "I want to submit something and this is the closest to good right now" type thing. Fortunately, piano on its own is enough of an established genre that I don't feel too cheeky. And when I do eventually add lyrics to this, I at least have an awesome title to work with!

Frustrated with the video, though. Da Vinci Resolve first added some static to the export, which I cleaned up, and re-exported a video. But then the timing was slightly off, and my Hunting Apollo logo inexplicably doesn't show up in part of the video. I think it's because of layers? Eh... Right now, I'm not gonna mess with it any further. Enjoy this slightly imperfect video of a piano track I'm quite pleased with.

And as always, I hope you enjoy this, and if you did, consider subscribing to my YouTube channel. Thanks!

Great idea to have the two pianos singing a duet and great ideas. The two pianos reminded me of Ethan Iversen on Bad Plus track IRON MAN on the album Give. Loved it.
