The Last One in the Door
Skirmish: Gold, Silver, Bronze (@corinnecurcio)Liner Notes
I wrote music, but ran out of time. This kind of folksy philosophy is not really me, but I hope I did it justice.
Lyrics
[1] Friends got out of college Thought that they were set forever They had a change of direction Before the next summer
If you take your time Try to get the details right You go farther than people Who want to get there overnight
[chorus] Life is not always a race To get ahead of the pack If you’re ahead of the pace You might have to come back The first ones in the kitchen Might get all the pecans But the last one in the door Has the deepest bronze
[2] I entered a contest to Bake a pie one night People laughed at how long It took to get everything right
Half of the bakers had left They thought the contest was over But at the end of the night Mine was the pie on the cover
[chorus - repeat]

Cool take on the prompt and a wonderful life philosophy. I like how you tied it to baking. Your chorus really hits and is so true! It takes some people a life time to learn this lesson. Wonderful writing and great skirmish!
Very sweet and grounded song. A lovely reminder to slow down and smell the pie.
Oh, I love these words and the wisdom you have imparted with them! I love, Love, LOVE that chorus!! That second verse section was an excellent example just in case anyone was wondering! Nice skirmish write!!!
