Begging Somewhere Else
Liner Notes
On this one I'm trying to play a batuque rhythm which is a notoriously difficult strumming pattern that involves muting the strings rhythmically using the just the edge of the base of your palm. Don't ask me what the lyrics are about... ;) I added a second voice because batuques are part of the Brazilian caipira style that normally are sung in dupla like this. (even this the vocal delivery here is more from my own americana roots)
Lyrics
Just like hot baloon you can go be free you go live your life no longer can burn me I known you many years we used to climb the tree I don’t know what I did best left a mystery
just like summer goose fly north to find your home I gotta cut you loose I gotta leave ya lone been tryin to make you see I always did my best but the better that I did the more failed your test
in your professor robe in your department chair your gifts from foreign lands combs folded in your hair you keep me your door just begging for your help now you can just wait some cause I’m begging somewhere else
it don’t mean much to me I am a feather in the wind you led me to believe I could come back here again a promise of a home a promise of a life signed the papers cold my blood upon the knife
carving up the town like a butcher VIP always gotta smile for the cameras on TV I’ve been here while and still I’m nowhere else I came to be in style but I’m leaving now in stealth
Just like hot baloon you can go be free you go live your life no longer can burn me I known you many years we used to climb the tree I don’t know what I did best left a mystery
