Liner Notes

#acoustic #singersongwriter #chicago This is a little shout-out to my 2nd favorite city - old Chicago. My daughter lives there and we visit 1-2 times a year. the 7-hr drive from MPLS ends up on Lakeshore drive. This roadway borders Lake Michigan on one side and the Northside Chicago neighborhoods on the other. Always a relief when we finally get there. Its a really beautiful section of the city, and the lakeshore is always full of activities especially in summer. Races, Festivals, Concerts, recreation etc. Also note from the internet: Lake Shore Drive has been renamed to "Jean Baptiste Point DuSable Lake Shore Drive" by the Chicago City Council to honor Jean Baptiste Point DuSable, who is recognized as Chicago's first non-Indigenous settler. Much harder to incorporate that full name in the song tho 😀

Lyrics

I want to ride down lakeshore drive, Makes a man feel good inside Wont you take me down Lakeshore Drive Take our troubles for a ride,

Take our troubles for a ride, Sometimes you just got to go To a place everybody knows where the sun and the water meet makes a heart skip a beat, Makes your heart skip a beat

When the city gets you down stuck in traffic in mid-town make your way to the Northeast side You end up down lakeshore drive You end up down lakeshore drive

You see the runners, on summer days you see the boats out on the waves makes you want to go stay all night its all there on lakeshore drive its all there on Lakeshore drive

Lakeshore drives are the best. There’s never not a good time to do it. It really takes you out of your head and back inside.
