Lyrics
People tell me that gold is my color, that I ought to shine. I believe I might try it someday down the line.
Slow burn, slow burn.
Always something to see in an edge of the empire town. In October it’s green, in November it all goes brown.
Slow burn, slow burn.
Someday a stranger on the street will just blurt out everything that I need to know. Till then I write letters home but everybody knows that it’s all a show.
Slow burn, slow burn.
There’s a bag of gold at the end of the rainbow, But I won’t go and check till I know what I need to know.
Slow burn, slow burn. Slow burn, slow burn.

Wonderful sensory imagery in your lyrics and emotion in your delivery!
Great color imagery throughout. For a quick skirmish this really came together well, I like it!
Like the hypnotic feel of these moody chords rocking back and forth. A great soundtrack for this singer who's kind of waiting or stuck in limbo -- playing a part to his family, looking for signs, hoping for miracles. All the while the seasons changing from green to brown. Really a lot of emotional depth and texture in this. And esp. love the first two lines: gold is my color, maybe try to shine sometime down the line.
I like the ambivalent way that gold reenters the plot in the last verse. Also, the thematically apt use of dissonant notes. Nice work!
Always something to see in an edge of the empire town. Love this lyric. The vocal feels fragile and mysterious. Enjoyed the chord choices.
