This is a kind of nonsense "traditional" leaning folk song, for the "The Violet Edney Folk Art Challenge" - An (visual) artist from my home town
As per the challenge, it is based on one of her pictures

I picked Cherry Hinton hall because (1) My school was so close, and (2) It is the location of the famous Cambridge folk festival
Lyrics
I’ve been walking the road from Wisbech to Harlow Holes in my boots walking mile after mile The sun’s worn me down and I need a rest So I looked for a place I could lay for a while I found a soft spot in the shade of some poplars No stinging nettles and out of the way So I put down my pack and curled up in a ball And soon I was drifting off in the day just trying to get some sleep, don't you see But there was this blackbird up in the tree Voice trilling high, voice trilling low Its a little black bird, and a right so and so At first my thought was to ignore it I was so tired I could just block it out But with every moment there in the calm The little birds song seemed to turn to a shout
When the old church falls there are no walls on love I'd sleep down in the grass with the birds up above Spring blue sky, I’ll delight in it all Here in the grounds of Cherry Hinton hall
I looked up into the bare branches gritting my teeth A stone in my hand ready to throw Then up above I could see a small nest I thought “You got here first” - “I guess I should go” So I made it to Harlow six hours early By abandoning my sleep and pushing right through The Wurzels had their own run in with blackbirds And I guess I got to have my own too
When the old church falls there are no walls on love I'd sleep down in the grass with the birds up above Spring blue sky, I’ll delight in it all Safe in the grounds of Cherry Hinton hall

Love how the words and picture complements each other. I am a big fan of the folky sounds you are bringing to the storyline. The bridge is absolute ear candy.
You're in good voice today. The song really motors along! If I were to try do a cover of it, I'd run out of breath before the chorus.
Very nice imagery. I love the artwork you posted it compliments the tune perfectly. Fantastic storytelling going on here!
What extraordinary vocals here! Warm and tuneful and appealing and with such folksy charm. I like how you included all the elements of the picture, but this doesn't feel at all awkward or like you're checking off a list; the song feels fully organic, like it was always meant to be exactly as it is, and the painter could equally have taken her inspiration from you rather than the other way around. Truly a splendid folk creation.
