Lyrics

I was miles past the ridge line when my throat began to close Searching for signal in the static of the satellite phone Movies have helicopter scenes, people are content with pipe dreams I was on so much benadryl it felt like watching through a screen

Disarmed in the engine bay, stripped and collared and shaved One knife in my sleeve, I get the rest back if I don't misbehave When there's no roads where you need to go, God's supposed to open up a window Nobody's ever seen him do it though

[Ch] Hey Visalia, I'm not gonna miss ya Hey Lake Isabella, thanks for the road to Olancha Hey Camino Sierra, I'm just sorry I can't stay I got a date with a landslide at Guitar Lake

Bakersfield looks like the kind of town where the next Guy Fieri would be born I'm in a rented Camero, it's red like his, and it's pretty well-worn Every meal you have right before you almost die is the best one you'll have until after you get out alive Man, there's a hundred more miles to drive

My man - what a great chorus! Love the lofi rambling abstract story song. A little weary, a bit oblique, defiant and very much alive, definitely picking up the Mountain Goats vibe. The unexpected Guy Fieri reference was a nice surprise.
