Thank you, X-ray Man
Skirmish: X-ray (@atornberg)Liner Notes
Thank you for the prompt. It took me back some years. The story is 100 % true and it happened to me. No music in my mind. Any takers? I imagine female vocals and a country song but I'm open to suggestions :)

Lyrics
Thank you, X-ray man Lyrics © 2026 Nadia Cripps
I was approaching 28 With only music in my mind And panic from my mum it's late No sign of a soulmate I could find
Not that there were no interested men around But I would cringe with every sound Or hint of possibilities of marriage I wasn't Cinderella waiting for her carriage
Then a new man appeared Boasting of his big connections My parents liked him but I found him weird He clearly chose all wrong directions
Still, I kept hearing that I should at least consider My future life with him He looked at me as a higher bidder I never made anyone else so dim
One day my family went out I saw a stranger staring at me His eyes were like x-rays, without a doubt He kind of scanned me saying please stay free
He looked at each of us Whispering in his low voice Don't sell her, nothing to discuss It is not the right choice
My mum gasped and since then I was happy to escape from this fate. Amen Thank you, X-ray man My new life began

Thank you so much.
Cool scene setting and story telling. "Marriage" to cinderella's carriage"are great imagery. Mostly, I admire the honesty of the lyrics. They're a little out of the ordinary. Well done.
Thank you Paul, even to this day I remember the way the stranger looked at me, I think he could see much more than I ever knew.
Really nice, personal lyrics here. I hope you get some takers on a demo, this would be great to hear fully realized!
Thank you Reagan, I hope so too :)
I like that his eyes were the X-rays. Sometimes you do meet people who seem to know you or what you're thinking even when you've barely met. So... was this the beginning of you and X-ray man? or was it just a one time encounter?
Thank you for your kind comment. I never met him after that. Hs said what he felt he needed to say and went. It was so surreal. My mum was absolutely shocked because she was really under the spell of the man who was from a very good family, very well established and very interested in serious relationship with me. Mum couldn't believe how that stranger looked at me, as if he could read so much. I never met anyone like him before or after.
Wow, a very powerful set of lyrics and even if based on a true story, still open to interpretation in some ways. Good take on the prompt
The pressure of marriage from family and friends is really unfair. I'm glad you dodged the bullet in this song! Nice work!
