Lyrics

I'm just thinking about how those monkeys evolved.

The proboscis monkeys?

Where did those noses come from?

They don't look all that unfamiliar.

They’re like human faces.

I don't want to anthropomorphize.
Make any assumptions.

They are 98% us.

I heard this stat, but I don't know if it's true: we share 50% of our DNA With bananas.

I guess it makes sense.
Skin. Kind of a gooey inside. Gets soft, brown spots as it gets older.

Makes me wonder what this whole thing is about. You could be a banana. Could be a proboscis. Could be an Orangutan.
Or some kind of human person.

They all raise their babies the same.
Oh, maybe not the banana. That's how you know. We're descended.
From Apes.

Apes.

LoL on the bananar raising their babies! I felt like I was part of a very relaxed late evening conversation - maybe by candlelight or maybe by a campfire where the last two people are still awake, their minds open to the kind of thoughts and conversation which only happen in the late evenings. The guitar was either one of the two people strumming, or something playing on a nearby boom box. Captured a mood for sure - I enjoyed it

I tend to like songs about Apes and this is no exception. Something about songs about apes feels familiar and like home to me. DEVO, Viagra Boys and this. And I really like the guitar tones. I need to get a better acoustic tone - share your secrets, APES!

I gotta know

How much of it was written down before you started?

It’s cool how it waffles back and forth between sounding like a real-time conversation and like a cut up conversation. I kind of regret reading the lyrics first to be honest, I think it would have had a better impact to just listen first.

Maybe elephants next year?

Completely improvised 😆

Such a lyrical and rhythmic conversation. Thanks for this fly on the wall tune!
