Songs Across the Ocean

Liner Notes
I occasionally get rather esoteric, and the thought of how songs pass from generation to generation, and across continents, is the inspiration behind today.
Lyrics
Melody lives inside your bones, older than your heartbeat A lilting cry that calls you back to those you cannot meet A shifted reference here and there, an altered local name A note goes high instead of low but at its core, the same
The framework built around a life, the touchpoints of our world changing down the stream of time, as eons must unfurl Riding currents cross an ocean, sailing o’er the tide To grow and change within us, legacies of verse and rhyme
The timbre of the voices as the generations pass Grow and change, reflect the age like candlelight in glass The roots run far beneath the earth, anchoring you down As ancestors are conjured from the old familiar sound
A mother singing softly to her children fast asleep Evoking scenes of far away, she carried cross the deep The comfort of a homeland, the joy of memory Held in notes that traveled far across the rolling sea
You’ll hear it called a folk song, of unknown history But trace it back through family lines, it’s not a mystery A working rhyme for gardening, or spinning yarn with friends Tradition passed on metered verse, history never ends
Nice! I really like it! This is something that sticks in my mind as well. Music is another instinct humans carry across generations, oceans, mountains…fascinating take on the subject matter a lot of interesting phrasing
Great work!
