As I walked down to the basement to grab my guitar, this memory came to me of a short voicemail message I recorded with my husband, which was intentionally discordant. I thought it quite funny.

So I decided to record my feelings about telephone calls in general. I limited myself to 3 chords, put no thought into the lyrics whatsoever and had so much fun that I decided not to edit or try to make it a good song. When he heard it, my husband improvised a line about me generally not liking people. That's not entirely true! 😂😂😂

Also I'm pretty far from my goal of 10 songs, which might have had something to do with leaving it as is. But this is the spirit of FAWM and good fun and I shall not apologize.

You have reached my voicemail I don’t like telephone calls I might call you back if I feel like it Kinda depends who you are

If your call is of a solicitation nature If your call is about my... car warranty I will not be returning your calls Cause’ I don’t feel like bothering with you

But you can leave your voicemail if you still want to talk to me I’ll definitely be more likely to talk to you if you leave a voicemail for me

Because one thing I do Is if they really wanna reach me they’ll leave a voicemail And if they don’t really care they’ll move on to the next caller on the list And I think that’s a pretty good waaaaay to screen my calls, screen my calls To scream about how much I don’t like telephones (ha!)

I never have, even when I was a kid, I did not like phone calls Even if they were from my friends - I don’t like to talk on the phone

It’s like you’re a disembodied voice I can’t read your facial expressions and I just wanna get off the phone as soon as I can I just wanna do something else Whatever - you interrupted me - that I was doing, that I liked before you called me Did you have to call me? You could have sent me a text I could have answered in a few minutes When it suited me better When it suited me better than now When it doesn’t really suit me at all
