The Kids Are Alright
Skirmish: I saw it in the news... (@robinleaf)Liner Notes

My friend and I tried to hit a protest the other day but it was several hours old and was just like twenty high school kids at that point. I saw on social media and the news that so many kids walked out of school earlier that day. I'm so proud of them, they give me hope!
Lyrics
C Am Em G
I walked by the Believe Plaza in downtown Reno with a friend 'Cause we were planning to see what was going on There'd be a school walkout that morning-- Thousands of teenagers took to the streets
And I'm so proud of them They're so strong
And I wish that-- When I grow up, could I be as courageous as the kids I saw that day When I grow up, could I be as brave them?
Let me tell you right now that--
The kids are alright and they're not afraid of the fight Yeah, the kids, they're alright Even though I don't really understand what they're saying When I saw them standing on the side of the road and screamin' at the cars I'd like to say that the kids are alright And things are gonna be fine!
I signed up to be a substitute teacher Not because I believe in the cause But because I need a little bit of money to fund all the things I love
But now I'm filled with fire in my soul To keep these kids going strong!
Let me tell you-- The kids, they're alright, they're alright, Let me tell you-- The kids, they're alright, they're alright, Let me tell you-- The kids, they're alright, they're alright, Let me tell you-- Those kids, they're happy to fight the fight, They're courageous until the morning light
The kids are alright, they're alright, And I hate that they have to do this 'Cause we're too scared to fight the fight But those kids, they're alright, they're alright, And I'll help them where I can 'Cause I don't want to see them stand up for things they shouldn't have to But at least I can tell you that the kids, That they're alright!

Love this! I am also so inspired when I see young people protest and also feel called to do more to fight and support them. I liked the line, when I grow up could I be as brave as them?
I'm so proud of the kids I see protesting or resisting, but my heart just aches for them. I can't say they're alright, but I feel for them growing up in the country and world as it is. They still have hope, so I still have hope. But, I still have work to do, things to protest, and people to protect. That's just what we do.
Oh fair, they definitely aren't alright as far as mental and physical health are concerned! Here's hoping they don't get messed up too bad <3
the kids should have other things on their minds - but times must i guess well skirmished
