Rachel says: I was playing around with the idea of a chord structure and chorus for this song and sent that to Nigel to flesh it out, add instrumentation, a middle section and his general magic touch. I sent him a Laufey track as inspiration and love what he's done with the rhythmic elements and guitar solo in the middle. This was also a fun one for me to play around with adding harmonies.

Nigel says: this was great to get this song idea from Rachel with such an addictive chord sequence and her excellent voice and lyrics. At first I wasn’t sure I could add much to what Rachel first sent me. But then came the idea of Latin percussion almost bossa nova feel, 2 piano parts, middle section and then the acoustic guitar solo using my sons lovely Martin. Great sentiment Rachel. We are all totally good enough!!!

Lyrics

There's always so much to be done Burning candles at both ends You're barely scratching off just one thing on your list you get so wistful for the day when you can finally rest

What if you were already good enough And didn't have to prove yourself to anyone What if you're right where you're supposed to be And all the best to come you just cannot yet see I tried to tell you it gets better when you trust that you know your own way home the song inside your heart will flutter and you'll never be alone

It's not your fault you've been told your worth is only what you do Oh, but let some ease caress you like a gentle breeze and you might stumble onto something new

Chorus

Chords main part Dm7 G7 Cmaj7 Am7 Leads into middle section with A7 then F Fm7 Em7 Am7 Dm7b5 G7 C6

Love this!! I'm a sucker for jazz!! The vocals and harmonies are sweetly excellent. Love the rhythm section and the layered chord structure is outstanding. The guitar is awesome and perfect for the composition. Outstanding creation and outstanding performance by both of you. A truly awesome collab!! Bravo to you both!!

I was not expecting some light latin at lunchtime, but was very glad to hear this! The piano and percussion are absolutely infectious. And the vocal phrasing is spectacular in places! A great song.
