Thanks, that's very kind of you. I feel this one hasn't really found it's place yet but it's on it's way. But I think that's something I've worked on a lot. Since I don't sing, (and I wanted to and tried for a long time) I try to make up for the "narrative" and emotion that comes with a lyric, with the flow and timing and variations between parts. Like they're little 2 min short stories, ideally. So, good to hear it comes through, appreciate it!
This is shockingly reminiscent of that post-grunge / nu-metal sound that was everywhere in rock in the early to mid-2000's, and that's one of my favorite forms of rock to listen to; love the interplay of drenched guitars and the buzzing synths about two minutes in! Whole track feels very Buckethead-esque
Oh. Nu-metal, that hurt! Haha, no, but interplay of guitars and distorted synths is a great thing, which i probably picked up from various bands in the late 90's. I'm happy you liked it and it's really interesting to hear peoples reference points. Makes me hear new things and listen to other stuff. Thanks!
Really satisfying interplay between the instruments here, the bass and guitar locked into such an appealing groove. That lead part with the stuttery start is really cool - not sure if it's an FX or just fast picking but it's unexpected and ear-catching. Sprawls out nicely into the psychedelic FX stuff at the end too - nicely developed to keep me on my toes.
I guess you mean the guitar at 1.35 - it's recorded at a slower bpm and sped up (because I'm slow) but also some delay on it. Glad you liked it, will refine the psychedelic part a bit and re-mix, otherwise it's probably pretty finished. Appreciate the listen!
The interplay between the guitars is quite good the tone in the lead might be a tad bit too harsh. Loved the bass break the guitars during that sounded glrious in the background. Grooves really well. A really solid structure already.
Did some last-minute EQ and level changes, I think it actually sounded better before. But good to hear. And that it grooves. Thanks for listening!
There’s always such a fluency to your music - which is astonishing considering the often ‘chaotic’ tones and slurs you throw into the pot. The results are often quite wonderful. You are really, really good at judging the ebb and flow of the track: when to strip it down, when to build, when to put the pedal to the metal, etc. This track sounds a little less layered than usual, with simpler percussion. That said, there’s still a whole lot going on and it’s sooo good.
