Sometimes you just write a song "in the style of" or "that completely rips off" something else, just to see if you can.

You don't need any clues to know where this tune began!

Lyrically, I decided to take a page out of the OG and get nostalgic, so last night spent a couple of hours just scrolling through old photos from the 1990s - hence references to The Masquerade (the world really was a vampire!) and the very first bass player in my very first band, who could not play a note, but she was a hot girl, and all the good bands had hot girls on bass and I'm only just now realising how on the nose that is for this particular tune...

The 'Pearly Gates' mentioned is actually a Burger King we spend far too much time hanging out at. Someone hilariously added it as a caption way back when.

Chrissy was a girl who one day showed up to a gathering with a massive perm - and strangely, that night was the only night I appeared to get a photo of her.

Anyway. It started out as a bit of a joke but I'm actually kind of happy with the song. The recording is a mess, yes, I was writing it as I was going along and the guitar intonation was all over the place, so literally used Melodyne to fix it! Was a fun one to play, especially the bass. Which was played by a non-hot dude. And the vocals, ugh, just a demo etc.

Also, considering the issues I have with sibilance in the mix, I should never have written the line "scientists say it's impossible, but i choose to trust TV".

And I just realised I didn't sing the lyrics for the second chorus I wrote. Lazy.
