Heart's Home
Liner Notes
I was working very late alone in our building, which is a former bank built in 1914, with enormously high ceilings, a mosaic marble floor, and the walls are marble up to the waist. It's spectacular. (I have to walk through a bank vault to get into my office.)
I started just hum this little tune that came to me. It felt like my brain was filling in all kinds of instrument parts, but it was just because the space is so sonically lovely.
So I decided to pull out my phone record this #acapella #old #acousticonetake
It's quite different from all the other offerings of this season (and frankly most seasons) but when the muse shows up and asks you to dance, you get out of the chair.
It's also a little twist, I suppose on the coming of spring and the fact that valentine's just passed...and up here where I live, nobody wants winter to be longer. Ever.
Who knows - maybe I was channeling someone who had spent a lot of time in that space 112 years ago and who was glad to finally have someone to give voice to something.
All work and no play makes falconbridge a dull girl indeed!
Everything was made up on the spot --both melody and lyrics. And there we go.
Song number seven.
Lyrics
As the snow melts The drips come down Like the tears From my eyes My dear.
With you now gone My heart is bleak And now the whole world Seems so weak without you.
Spring may be calling And the flowers may bloom But in my heart, There is dark and gloom.
I wish the snow was piling Because I'd still be smiling Because spring is when You left me all alone.
And now the winter is My heart's home.
This is wonderful! So beautyfully sung - I don't miss any instrument. Your voice does it ... perfectly, and really touching.
