Iron of God

Liner Notes
This is, hands down, the best demo recording I have ever done. I've been tinkering at it for pretty much all of February to get it right, since I could tell early on it was gonna be a banger, but even so I'm not entirely sure exactly what I did to get THIS big of a guitar sound. Yeah there's some layering, but you know what it's like when you're in the zone! I can see in the DAW kind of what I did, but the exact details? I'll never get this tone again, I know it. Downside of using a real amp and not a sim I guess.
Anyway. I was reading a New Scientist magazine a few weeks ago and came across this incredibly bizarre article (https://www.newscientist.com/article/2507988-the-century-long-hunt-for-the-gigantic-meteorite-that-vanished/) and knew instantly a song MUST BE WRITTEN!
Went into my ideas folder and found something called 'lasagna power pop metal' from October last year in which I was playing a chunky muted riff to a disco beat and mumbling something about lasagna. When I realised 'lasagna' rhymed with 'Mauritania' - the location of the titular Iron of God - I knew I'd found the right idea to flesh out into a real song.
Little did I know I would end up with the bastard child of Siamese Dream-era Smashing Pumpkins and Franz Ferdinand.
Tried recording my vocal a bit differently today, using the Rode instead of the Shure, and I think it worked. I'm rarely this pleased with a done-in-10-minutes vocal mix. Shouldn't take too much work to get it release-ready.

This is epic. In so many ways. I tend to be a lyrics person. The lyrics are excellent, but that's just the start really...
Wow this is great! I love it!
Banger indeed. The production and arrangement are so good. The chorus is the star for me. Big, catchy and heavy. Your best this year (so far). The guitar tones are perfect.
