Sunny and Four Degrees
[Verse 1] It's such a lovely day the sun is cheerful and warm light filters through my curtainwall my dying spider plant starts to sprout and the living room feels transformed
[verse 2] there's a spring in my step as I go outside put my sunglasses on step carefully on the bricks below and across the snow I glide
[bridge] time to rake some snow off my roof before it falls on me. ‘cause when I step out the front door That heavy weigh could crush me
[chorus] four degrees might not seem so warm but it's enough to melt the ice and snow enough to see the snowbanks shrink and leave a dirty gray crust below I know it won’t be here for long But I’ll enjoy the thaw while it goes.
[verse 4] the next thing is to clear the puddles so my basement doesn't flood. make sure the catch basins are free of all that winter grime and mud
[ Verse 5] But the forecast says by morning there’s a blizzard on its way, thirty centimeters coming down to kindly ruin my day.
So I’ll salute this four-degree heat like it’s July at the beach— ’cause winter always has the last word just when spring’s in reach.
