Laundry Day

Liner Notes
On the Sad Bastard Music RVA FAWM Discord™, we talked about how we cope with the horrors of the day in ways other than writing about it, and my answer is cleaning. So, an ode to ignoring the big things and power puttering.
Lyrics
I’ll take the morning off now I will see you in the midday Gonna fold the sheets up and not waste another Friday I could write a verse about the pain, but the kitchen’s filthy Who needs a sad song when you've got stubborn grime and grease stains
Take the load off me, I’ve got many things to clean Take the load off me, split the darks and lights and bleach Take the load off me Take the load off me
Chop the onions up right now, that's the only tears I’m crying Marinate the chicken, ferment the bread, in the oven rising My soul has got a hunger but the meal is nearly ready Who needs a sad song when you've got red sauce and spaghetti
Take the load off me, I've got many mouths to feed Take the load off me, knead the dough and let it breathe Take the load off me, set a place for everything Take the load off me, shredding every memory Take the load off me Take the load off me Take the load off me
Comments
“Table the load off me, I’ve got many things to clean” is so heartbreakingly real. I think you get at this really relatable feeling of not having the time or energy to actually sit with anything that’s happening here. I love how you change it in the second chorus
Wow, really beautiful
