Liner Notes

I feel like I've been slacking on FAWM (but only because I have been,) so I sat down this morning, wrote and recorded this. It's pretty rough. Writing and recording the guitar and vocals took about 45 minutes. The rest of it took about another hour. Anyway... It's a quickie with potential about how most of the things we do, we do because we have to, rather than because they're what we want to do. #acoustic #countryfolk

Lyrics

Standing in the middle of a broken down highway At the corner of stranded and nowhere to go Worried bout the weather, been waiting here forever And I can’t get a signal on my cell phone

And the clouds sit gray on the horizon And it’s funny how a thing stays still When it seems that we’re all moving Against our will…

When I finally left home, started learning what alone meant, I was only seventeen If I hadn’t found a friend and been somehow taken in, Then I don’t know where I’d be.

And the clouds sit gray on the horizon And it’s funny how a thing stays still When it seems that we’re all moving Against our will…

Against our will, against the world Against the odds our lives are hurled Against all sense and better judgement we believe. Against the clock, against the grain, Against the fear and doubt and pain Against the wind and all the rain, we live and breathe Against our will.

We spend all our seconds wishing, We s pend our moments working on a plan, And we spend the rest of our lives doing what we can.

Against our will, against the world Against the odds our lives are hurled Against all sense and better judgement we believe. Against the clock, against the grain, Against the fear and doubt and pain Against the wind and all the rain, we live and breathe Against our will.

Standing in the middle of a broken down highway at the corner of stranded and nowhere to go Worried bout the weather, been waiting here forever and I can’t get a signal on my cell phone

And the clouds sit gray on the horizon And it’s funny how a thing stays still When we spend our whole lives moving Against our will. Against our will.

Sits in between that country and American Rock feel... Like Mellenkamp or Springsteen.

The beginning also had a great storytelling vibe that sits in a musical theater type setup... (Since I'm writing a musical, I feel that).

"We spend all our moments working on a plan..." ain't that the truth.
