Spread the Disease

I have several song drafts and riffs, but I haven't been totally happy with any of them. As today the news of passing of death/grind legend Impetigo's guitarist Mark Sawickis spread through the underground, I felt I wanted to make a tribute to him and his work, so I started from scratch. Impetigo are hugely influential in the scene, and chances are that if you play death metal or grindcore, you are some way influenced by them, even if you wouldn't know it!
The heavy use of horror movie samples in both genres is very much due to their influence. Since this track is a homage to Impetigo, a movie sample is in order. However, I wasn't sure about the community guidelines, and so it occurred to me that it could be fun creating the "sample" myself! I decided to go with my native language Finnish with it, 'cause a) my pronunciation in English might've been a bit crappy and b) horror samples in different languages are fun, right? So, here you'll hear a sample from a fictive 50s Finnish horror movie. Maybe I should come up with a name for the movie as well, now that I think about it... I've always loved the monologues of utter psychopaths in these things, so I went with that vibe.
The lyrics themselves are about a serial killer who gets turned into a zombie, and as you can see, he quite enjoys this change of lifestyle!
Rest in power, Mark!

Lyrics
Vihdoin kaikki he saavat ansionsa mukaan!
I know nothing more wonderful than to kill a human being. To see the light go out in someone's eye. Suffering, death, sorrow. In these things I want to see humanity wallowing. And these things I want to bring to the world. Not happiness or solace, only misery for all. And finally, I have found a way to spread this gospel to every corner of the world! Finally everyone will get what's coming to them!
I've always enjoyed killing But now my body's been turned to weapon Crushing bones with my bare hands Drinking blood of the innocent
Spreading the disease Devour the fucking humanity
And as I ingest the brains Straight from their skulls And wipe the guts from my lip I smile with ecstatic delight
Spreading the disease Devour the fucking humanity On this corpse mountain I am the king of the hill
Spread the disease

Heheh, glad to bring something new to your day! Cheers for the comment!
The bass sound is epic. Really everything about the track screams underground demo from the 90s of a band that now plays Wacken
Thank you for the comment! Luckily, Impetigo were underground maniacs from the beginning to the end 😁
Woaaaah! This introduction and riff is just awesome! 🤟😈🤟
Thank you! Yeah, the intro turned out to capture the wanted atmosphere quite well, if I say so myself 😅
This is a killer track! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Cheers, man! I'm surprisingly happy with it myself :)
What a great tribute! I too would watch that Finnish horror movie! Brutal riffing and everything just working together solidly.
Thanks, dude! I too wish there was that kind of an old Finnish movie. Sadly, we don't have much tradition with horror, although you'd think the darkness and winter of Finland would lend quite a fitting setting for that.
You guys are just too busy cranking out heavy metal!
Absolute FILTH. What a perfect tribute. And that intro... damn, I'd watch the rest of that film!
HAILS! Now after belting this one out, I'm enjoying a stout and cranking up some Impetigo from the box set I got over a year ago as a 40 year birthday present for myself. One of the finest items in my collection.
The intro already sets the mood! And as soon as it kicks in, it gets heavy and nasty! I love these vocals, so typical of old school death metal! And since I'm a fan of that d-beat drumming, I was hooked right away!
Cheers! Glad you liked the delivery, I aimed to keep it disgusting!
I have not heard anything like this on FAWM and I am delighted at the discovery - very heavy and the vocals are awesome. Its so outside my musical zone I am kind of speechless, so I will simply say I enjoyed the journey and set up of the first 55 seconds, followed by the raw power and menace delivered in the remainder! Good job!
