Meet Me Where I'm At

Challenge: MIXED EMOTIONSLiner Notes
#funk #loops #electricuke #lofi but not really
I’ve been noodling around with this since the first day of FAWM. It’s kind of about Neptune in Aries energy, kind of about how I have Neptune in the 12th house which is the house where people take you Too Seriously. And then it devolves into my inner teenager screaming at the current state of the world to jaunty elevator music
- funk loops from the Logic library
- electric uke
- a midi track of The Entertainer by Scott Joplin (public domain)
- too many layers of vocals but somehow not enough
Lyrics
Meet me where I’m at, hoo
Neptune in the house, ooh There’s a lot going on (A lot going on, now) I could be your cult leader But that would be wrong (That would wrong, now)
Don’t have keys to the kingdom (Don’t have the keys, have the keys) No I forgot to bring them (Uh I forgot, I forgot)
Meet me where I’m at There’s a lot going on (A lot going on, now)
(Various yeahs and hahs)
Aries in the house, ooh Asking what’s goin on (A lot going on, now) I believe a change will come At the end of the song (Na na na na na na)
Everyone act normal (Everyone, everyone) It’s just the winter formal (Just act cool, now) I feel like a middle schooler (That was not a good time in my life) Drunk on wine coolers
And where’d the chaperones go??????
Meet me where I’m at, ooh Dancing the end of days (Get low get low get low get low) Meet me where I’m at, ooh Let’s play the end times rag
(Ragtime elevator music)
Don’t have keys to the kingdom No I forgot to bring them But meet me where I’m at, ooh
(Fade out)

I love the entertainer sample omg, totally did not see that coming! These vocals and harmonies are amazing.
Funky. Really fun vibe here. I can tell you had fun making this. Brilliant vocal melody in particular.
This is a fun listen! The backing vocals and moving sounds, the bass that reminds us to groove. The "end times rag" is a great little nod and use of a classic melody. I think maybe I'd explore hitting that first riff (ending at ~2:19) and then slamming back into your "meet me where I'm at" hook, and then maybe tagging it again in the outro, keep it short and sweet and the focus on your hook.
I like the soundscape and the message. I agree that you could totally add more vocal tracks if you want. I liked how you used The Entertainer at the end, it blended right in while still being absolutely recognizable and distinct.
A witty tune. My favorite bits were "I feel like a middle schooler / (That was not a good time in my life)" and "Let’s play the end times rag" (and the lil chiptune rag that follows)
