Flirting With Rorschach
Liner Notes
Written and composed by Spencer Kimball #folk #singersongwriter
Lyrics
It could be a blot on my record That my mind is empty right now I’m either frozen with fear Or obsessing on some sacred cow
Chorus: Can I see what I was missing If I just unfold your page Maybe I would have been whole Born into another age
Is it a cardinal sin That I really don’t know what to think Does this blot make me look fat Maybe I’m someone else’s gobolink
Chorus
Are you the one That’s showing the dirty pictures - Or have I been Adding too much vinegar to the mixture?
My motives are right on top I just want to run your table And the paper won’t show what I am And every picture tells a fable

Non-linear, but the concept comes through. Rorschach patterns are folded. And I can relate to the pressure of coming up with the right answer to what looks like a coffee stain? Nicely done!
Flirting with Rorschach, indeed. I had many interpretations of these lyrics, but I have no idea if there is one.
I like the feel of questing here; I get a strong sense of the character here, trying so hard to be figure out how to be "normal." The delicate guitar and vocal performance (and lyrics, of course) give a feeling of yearning to give the right answers, but not quite knowing how. It's a very affecting performance, and song.
