Coming Undone

Lyrics

Hey! Yeah! Oooooh!

Sitting on the train staring at undone laces Getting out into a sea of unknown faces Joy cannot be found, there’s no island of fun But best be in the office till your hours are done

The tree of life has led to you, but it led there too soon The children ask you what you do, dead inside by noon

Coming undone Coming undone Coming undone Coming undone

Your friends said she stared at you so you’d make your move Even drunk you knew that you were not that smooth It’s been months since she left an’ she ain’t comin’ back Loneliness is how we name a life of lack

The course of love is fraught with pain, wish you had known that And still it is a tad inane, no directions and no map

Coming undone Coming undone Coming undone Coming undone

I climb onto the roof one night, look up at the sky I feel like I’ve not seen the stars since I was a boy Somewhere there’s a person who will feel like home Guess that’s what you think when you’re all alone

That feeling, of meaning, coming undone Your reason, for living, coming undone Coming undone

I got the Pixies right away from the opening chords as well! Something has intrigued me to listen to all of this, despite it being long and I'm glad I did. The vocals remind me of Eels quite a bit, love the muted nature, and your voice is really great.

I don't know why "I feel like I’ve not seen the stars since I was a boy" hit sooo hard. Relateable, perhaps.

I want to say that the strumming pattern contributes to that Pixies feel a lot, but I'm not sure! I'm also really glad that you felt something with that line, it's one of my favourite lines in the song. I've been getting good feedback on my voice and delivery, so I'm buoyed by it all - thanks for contributing to my desire to continue!

wonderful chords!!! giving me big pixie vibes! i like the off the cuff vocal delivery too, lazy in the best of pavement esque way. Chorus slaps! i can hear the drums bass and lead already

High praise indeed! If I ever get a band together, this is one of those songs I'll flesh out. Thanks for the comment Uncle Steve!
