Strangers in a Strange, Strange Land
Liner Notes
I had the title/idea for this when I was working on a space opera, but never used it. Andrew and I passed it back and forth and developed it over the last couple of weeks. #Sci Fi
Lyrics
Strangers in a Strange, Strange Land
Words and Music by Ron Tintner and Andrew Richardson ©2026, ASCAP
Beneath the jungle's canopy We hide and hunt Trying to survive here on our own
While giant granite obelisks Alive but made of stone Guard the secrets of survival In this world we now call home
Chorus: We're strangers in a strange, strange land Caught in a future we never planned for No one to help or lend a hand We're strangers in a strange, strange land
It hasn’t been long since we got here But it feels like forever ago It's amazing how little we knew back then Now we know how much we don't know
CHORUS
Bridge: We wander through this jungle land Awed by what we see Dangers, wonders, opportunities A world made for us... A gift from the gods A garden... but Eden or Gethsemane?
CHORUS
We're strangers in a strange, strange land
Comments
I really like going to double time in the middle of the chorus. It's not a new move per se but it comes at an unexpected time, which makes it memorable
This has hints of Neil Young to my ear. Even though this was for a space opera, it works on a different level as well. Very melancholy.
Hi Ron, I remember you from the Muse! As a huge Heinlein fan, had to listen to this one! This one belongs more to current times than a space opera - the future is here? The drums and synth keeps it a little science fiction-y.
That chorus is really good. The melody is catchy and really interesting. Nice arc in the lyrics. The jungle of the beginning where you know nothing and the jungle in the end where we now know we don't know anything. Both equally terrifying. Great stuff.
First of all, a space opera? that sounds kind of amazing. Title and chorus is great in this one. Really dig the vibe. I like the perspective of the lyrics a lot.
A song of a long ago time. The 1980s. If you handy mentioned the jungle, I could have been convinced it was another planet. The music has a sci-fi feel to it.
TYVM. We both got a chuckle out of "long ago time. The 1980s." Seems like yesterday... I graduated from medical school in 1980.
Really fantastic storytelling going on here. LOVE the chorus. It has such a vintage vibe. I am diggin' this one a lot! Great stuff
Andrew and Ron, you're developing quite a collection of strong songs together and here's another one. Don't be strangers. Post more!
Love the beat you picked for this. Love the storytelling- capturing the adventure and anticipation. Fav is harmonies in last chorus
