Not Enough Pay

Liner Notes
I was supposed to write 3 songs today lol
Lyrics
Dress and redress Boiling in primordial soup Overcomplicated, well what are you? Index fossils get special names They never hear from in their graves
Penitent to the extent Of the expense I am writing off As delicate as the next man Once the chase is on And the chase is on
And I’m scared that I might become somebody I’m taking up work for not enough pay And I’m scared that I might become somebody I’m taking up work for not enough pay And I’m scared that I might become somebody I’m taking up work for not enough pay And I’m scared that I might become somebody I’m taking up work for not enough pay
Mark and remark Danger is a difficult beast Without myself what would become of me? I entered here light on my feet With the assumption i could leave
Intersect with excellence Until the smell starts wearing off Throttled down to the hyoid bone Once the chase is on and the chase is on
And I’m scared that I might become somebody I’m taking up work for not enough pay And I’m scared that I might become somebody I’m taking up work for not enough pay And I’m scared that I might become somebody I’m taking up work for not enough pay And I’m scared that I might become somebody I’m taking up work for not enough pay
Auctioned off I divided costs When the function is What the object does While I sawed it off With a silver tongue But it’s still baked in Hidden under crust And for not enough You can still buy love From a susurrus with a transplant heart And a calendar Where you don’t belong And your penciled time It will never come
this goes so hard. i love the overlapping vocals in the chorus/end. the momentum is amazing, esp in the chorus and then the end when it becomes just non-stop. v energizing. a lot of good lines to pick apart in here, im personally a fan of the "when the function is what the object does", as someone who thinks about the whole "the purpose of a system is what it does" thing a lot in regard to action and intention. once again dancin thru the existentialism over here
