Moonlife

Liner Notes

I've no idea if this works, but thought I'd run it up the flagpole. Harmonies ragged in places because I kept changing the words and just ran out of puff. Also there's a bit of clipping on the recording with the dynamic shifts but I'll leave it for now.

Oh, and full disclosure, I'm not playing the bass solo(ish), it's programmed. I probably could have had a run at this if I put in a bunch of time, but it still wouldn't have sounded as good. A bunch of the other stuff is programmed too, but much of the guitar is human.

Lyrics

Longwave receiver Stuck in a freezer Pointed at earth I've waited to say

Moonlife Moonlife Living on the moon you're on your own

I'm a believer It's like a fever all of my life I've felt the same way

Moonlife Moonlife Living on the moon you're on your own

Revellers and grievers and distant Caesars Fascinate me from Mon Delisle A world of weavers A world of levers All of my life I've listened for them

Moonlife Moonlife Living on the moon you're on your own

There’s a gossamer lightness to this one, at least until the drums come in and re-anchor it all. I love the free association style lyrics, and the general sense of disconnection and discombobulation. Nice Mon Delisle reference (he says, not really knowing but assuming it’s somewhere on the moon). Beautiful soundscape :)

A very odd and unusual vibe, doesn't sound like anything I can think of, really interesting harmonies and chords and the glitch-like effects at the start adds to an intriguing atmosphere. Great dynamics and i like the sense that it's sort of floating free in the air and gets anchored (for lack of a better word) with the bass coming in at 0.40, to later be released again. Which matches the feel I get from the lyric really well too.

You are a closet guitar stud…Brilliant playing. I find the phrase “Living on the moon you’re on your own” somewhat hilarious in its obvious nature. Programmed bass sounds great as do your vocals. The interesting unexpected choices that incorporate into your songs make them unique and memorable.

Lovely old school psychedelic folk song. Harmonies work nicely. Nice wobbly solo. Wonderfully chill. Definitely buying this one. Reminds me a little of some of Sean Lennon’s stuff. Very cool. Kudos.

You should be writing for Blur. They need some new songs of this calibre. enough of resting on their laurels. ps i do love your wobbles here as wel as the rest of it.
